A Zendesk alternative without the per-agent stack

Zendesk is the reference implementation for enterprise support, and if you need FedRAMP, 80-language AI and a thousand-app marketplace, this page will point you there. What Conecto replaces is the arithmetic: seats times plan, plus per-agent add-ons, plus an AI meter whose per-resolution rate Zendesk does not publish. A Conecto workspace is one flat price with AI billed in plain, published USD.

Choose Conecto if…

  • You want a real free plan — Zendesk has none, and its $19 entry plan is email-only; live chat starts at $55 per agent
  • You want AI pricing you can read: published USD credits, not a per-resolution rate that requires a sales call
  • You want to see who is on your site right now — Zendesk’s live visitor list is unavailable on its modern Agent Workspace
  • You send broadcasts — Zendesk caps proactive messages at 140 per account, web widget only

Choose Zendesk if…

  • You need the deepest compliance posture in the category: FedRAMP, HIPAA, ISO 42001, EU Binding Corporate Rules
  • You want a 1,000+ app marketplace — including Shopify refunds processed inside the ticket
  • Your AI must answer in 80 languages at native fluency
  • You need built-in quality assurance and workforce management for a large support org

What each one costs

ConectoZendesk
Billing modelPer agent + per-agent add-ons + per AI resolution
Free planNone — 14-day trial
Entry with live chat$55/agent/mo (Suite Team, annual)
A 10-agent team$550/mo (Suite Team) to $1,150/mo (Professional), annual
AI agentPer automated resolution — rate not published; 5–15 included per agent/mo
AI copilot$50/agent/mo, paid yearly
Fully-loaded seat$165/agent/mo (Professional + Copilot), before AI resolutions

The arithmetic: Suite Professional plus the Copilot add-on is $165 per agent per month — $19,800 a year for a 10-agent team, before any automated-resolution charges. A Conecto Scale workspace is $65 a month, seats included.

In fairness: Zendesk’s outcome billing has honest guardrails — an independent AI evaluation confirms the answer was relevant, a 72-hour window guards against premature counting, and every plan includes a starter allowance. The rate itself, however, is not published, overage costs more than committed volume, and reducing a commitment means contacting support.

For EU teams: Zendesk hosts EU data at no extra charge — but only on Suite Professional ($115/agent/mo) and up, activated via support, and several products (Messaging transfers, WFM, advanced AI agents) are excluded from region moves.

Where Zendesk genuinely wins

Zendesk is the enterprise standard, rated 4.4/5 across 4,087 Capterra reviews. Where it beats Conecto today:

  • Compliance depth nobody at Conecto’s size can match: SOC 2, ISO 27001/27701/42001, FedRAMP LI-SaaS, HIPAA with BAA, EU Binding Corporate Rules
  • A 1,000+ app marketplace, including a first-party Shopify app that processes refunds and cancellations inside the ticket
  • AI in 80 languages at native fluency, plus AI ticket and article translations in the base Suite
  • Built-in quality assurance and workforce management (the $50 Workforce Engagement Bundle) — tooling most rivals don’t have at all
  • Telephony in the entry Suite tier, with a full Contact Center add-on above it

Why teams pick Conecto over Zendesk

Priced for teams, not seat counts

Value for Money is Zendesk’s lowest Capterra sub-score, and its own reviewers explain why: every layer is per agent. Ten agents cost $550–$1,150 a month before add-ons. A Conecto workspace is one flat price — $65/mo covers twenty seats.

AI pricing you can read

Zendesk bills AI per automated resolution at a rate its public pages never state. Conecto publishes the whole model: plans include a USD credit budget, top-ups are pay-as-you-go, and a ledger shows what every reply cost.

The parts Zendesk removed or never had

Live visitor tracking is gone from Zendesk’s modern workspace. Broadcasts don’t exist — proactive messages cap at 140, widget-only. Its CRM retires in 2027. Conecto ships all three, in every workspace, behind one snippet.
