Use it when

A month is closed or a tax return is filed.

What it does

Lock the books through a date (a closed month, a filed tax return): nothing new can be booked on or before it, by any tool or invoice. null unlocks. Every change is kept in the books' history.

What comes back

The books' settings with the new locked_through date. Every reply also carries cost_usd and balance_usd.
