# Change a task (`tasks_update`)

Changes a task: status, assignee, priority, labels, due date, title, description, CRM links or its place in the column.

Change a task: move it to another status, reassign, reprioritize, relabel, set a due date, edit its title or description, or link CRM records. Give only what changes; order "top" puts it first in its column.

Price: $0.01 a call. A call that fails costs nothing.

`result`: task: the task in full, as it now is.

## Errors

| Code | Status | When | Fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| `not_found` | 404 | No task has that number or task_id. | Find it with tasks_list. |
| `invalid_input` | 400 | The status is not one of the project's, a date is not real, or a subtask's parent is in another project. | Use a status the message lists and dates like 2026-10-16. |
| `not_found` | 404 | A CRM contact, company or deal id is not the business's. | Find it with crm_search. |
