# Create a newsletter (`newsletters_create`)

Creates a newsletter people join on its own page by confirming their address, sent through the business's own email service.

A newsletter people join on its own page (cncto.co/n/<name>) by confirming their address, like Buttondown or listmonk. Issues go out through the business's own email service (connect it first with newsletters_connect_service); every issue carries postal_address (the law in the US and the EU asks for one) and a one-click unsubscribe. Free; needs an account that has topped up once.

Price: Free. A call that fails costs nothing.

## Use it when

The business wants to write to people who asked for it, again and again.

- For one email to one person or a few, use [email_send](https://conecto.chat/tools/email/email_send.md).

## Errors

| Code | Status | When | Fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| `payment_required` | 402 | The business has never topped up; newsletters need one real top-up. | Top up once (POST /v1/topups), then try again. |
| `sending_paused` | 403 | The business's email is paused after bounces, complaints or emails refused as cold outreach. | Tell the owner. Conecto reviews the pause before sending resumes. |
| `no_sending_service` | 409 | The business has not connected its own email service. | Connect it with newsletters_connect_service (its SMTP server, login and from address). |
| `limit_reached` | 409 | The business has as many newsletters as it may. | Use one it already has. |

The refusals every tool can give (401 key, 402 balance, 429 limits) are on the errors page: https://conecto.chat/docs/errors.md
